Description
The bacterial strain Saccharomyces boulardii has several different mechanisms of action that can be classified into three main categories: luminal action, trophic action, and signaling effects (mucosal anti-inflammatory action). Saccharomyces boulardii has no effect on the normal microbiota in healthy humans; however, in people with diarrhea, it rapidly restores the normal microbiota. It is very useful in the prevention of acute diarrhea, traveler’s diarrhea (TD), or antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) in adults and children.
